Jack Dratch is a touring and session drummer known for his deep sense of pocket, rich musical knowledge, and melodic approach to the drum set. For him, drumming is not just about keeping time; it’s about telling a story. It’s knowing every lyric, every chord change, every intricate moment that makes a song great, and crafting a part that best supports every aspect of the music. His rigorous preparation and expressive live performances have helped him build a rapidly growing career and reputation as a first-call drummer in Nashville and beyond.

Jack grew up in Ambler, PA, and began playing the drums at seven years old. His first performance opportunities came from the School of Rock music program, which he was actively involved in for ten years. There, he studied rock, funk, jazz, latin, and classical music with his versatile mentor, Jim Love. Outside of the school, Dratch dually studied with The Hooters’ drummer, David Uosikkinen, who instilled in him the importance of pocket and the art of timekeeping. Jack was awarded first chair in the Pennsylvania All-State Concert band in 2018, and toured that summer in the highly selective School of Rock AllStars program.

Jack accepted a full-ride scholarship to University of Miami’s Frost School of Music in 2019, where he pursued a BM in Music Scoring and Production with a minor in Music Business and Entertainment Industries. There, he was blessed to have studied with the legendary Dafnis Prieto, Steve Rucker (Bee Gees), and Dave Chiverton. Jack also began his professional career in Miami, performing throughout Florida with his band, Pump Action, and taking freelance live/session opportunities with talents such as broadway singer Norm Lewis, indie-rocker John Splithoff, and more. He was awarded the Presser Scholarship in 2022, and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2023.

After graduating, Jack moved to Nashville to pursue further opportunities with Pump Action and as a sideman. He began playing with blues/rock artist Jed Harrelson in the fall of 2023, and has since toured nationally as Harrelson’s drummer, music director, and co-writer. In November, 2023, Jack held the drummer chair for the Latin Grammy’s Person-Of-The-Year Gala in Sevilla, ESP, where he performed in the house band for acts such as Andrea Bocelli, Alejandro Sanz, Anitta, Arturo Sandoval, Laura Pausini, and beyond.

Today, Jack is a full-time touring and session drummer. He has recently begun touring with rising country artist Benny G, and will be playing an arena/amphitheater tour opening for Ty Myers later this year. When not on the road with Benny or Jed, he can be found playing rock, jazz, and blues throughout Nashville and tracking in his home recording studio.
